Last Updated: October 23, 2025

Welcome to Shoreline Tree Service ("we," "us," or "our"), a professional tree care company based in Shoreline, Washington. By engaging our services, you ("Client," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before proceeding with any services.

1. Services Provided

Shoreline Tree Service provides professional tree care services, including but not limited to tree removal, tree trimming, pruning, stump grinding, emergency tree services, and arborist consultations. The scope of work, timeline, and pricing will be detailed in a written estimate or contract provided to you before work begins.

2. Estimates and Payments

  • Estimates: All estimates are valid for 30 days from the date of issuance unless otherwise stated. Estimates are based on the information provided by the Client and site conditions observed at the time of the assessment.
  • Payment Terms: Payment is due upon completion of the work unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards. A deposit may be required for large projects, as specified in the contract.
  • Late Payments: Overdue payments may incur a late fee of 1.5% per month on the outstanding balance, and we reserve the right to suspend services until payment is received.
  • Additional Costs: Any unforeseen circumstances (e.g., hidden obstacles, additional labor, or equipment needs) may result in additional charges, which will be communicated to you before proceeding.

3. Client Responsibilities

  • Access: You must provide clear access to the work site, including removing vehicles, personal property, or other obstacles. Shoreline Tree Service is not responsible for damage to items left in the work area.
  • Permits: You are responsible for obtaining any necessary permits or approvals unless otherwise agreed in writing. We can assist with permit applications if requested, for an additional fee.
  • Property Boundaries: You must clearly mark or inform us of property lines, underground utilities, and any hazards (e.g., irrigation systems, septic tanks) before work begins. We are not liable for damage to unmarked utilities or property.
  • Debris Removal: Unless included in the contract, debris removal (e.g., wood chips, branches, or logs) is your responsibility. We offer debris removal services for an additional fee.

4. Safety and Liability

  • Safety: Tree care is inherently hazardous. Our team follows industry-standard safety protocols to minimize risks. You agree to keep pets, children, and unauthorized persons away from the work area during operations.
  • Liability: Shoreline Tree Service is not liable for damage to property caused by unavoidable circumstances, such as falling branches, provided we exercise reasonable care. We carry general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage for your protection.
  • Force Majeure: We are not liable for delays or failure to perform services due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to severe weather, natural disasters, or equipment failure.

5. Cancellations and Rescheduling

  • Cancellation: You may cancel services by providing written notice at least 48 hours before the scheduled start date. Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a fee equal to 20% of the estimated cost to cover preparation expenses.
  • Rescheduling: We will work with you to reschedule services if needed. However, rescheduling within 24 hours of the start time may incur a $100 fee, depending on crew availability.

6. Warranty and Guarantees

  • Workmanship: We guarantee that all services will be performed by trained professionals in accordance with industry standards. If you are dissatisfied with our work, notify us in writing within 7 days, and we will address the issue at no additional cost, provided the issue is within the scope of the original agreement.
  • No Plant Health Guarantee: Due to factors beyond our control (e.g., weather, soil conditions, or pre-existing tree health), we do not guarantee the health or survival of trees or plants after services are performed.

7. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from our services will be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, both parties agree to pursue mediation in King County, Washington, before resorting to legal action. The prevailing party in any legal action will be entitled to recover reasonable attorney fees and costs.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate services if you fail to comply with these Terms and Conditions, including non-payment or unsafe working conditions. Termination does not relieve you of payment obligations for work already completed.

9. Intellectual Property

Any designs, plans, or recommendations provided by Shoreline Tree Service remain our intellectual property and may not be shared or reproduced without written consent.

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Any legal action must be filed in King County, Washington.
